On a clear, moonlit, night, you will be treated to unsurpassed views of Mauna Kea. Feel free to do a little “moon walk” under skies filled with stars. Greet the morning with your cup of hot Kona coffee and watch the beautiful sunrise from the sun room as you gaze across Parker Ranch's pastures towards majestic Mauna Kea. Watch as the sun dances across two beautiful pu'u's (cinder cones) and the Jurassic Park-like pasture scenery surrounding our property. Pu`u Menehune is surrounded by horse ranches and cattle and you may be treated to a sight of wild turkeys, pheasants, quail, and endemic birds such as the Hawaiian owl (Pu'eo) and the Hawaiian Hawk (I'o).

Enjoy the beauty of your own stream and waterfalls located on the property. We invite you to hike the property and explore but ask that you help cherish the pristine beauty of Pu`u Menehune. The property is partially forested with native ohia trees which are rich in Hawaiian legend and have a beautiful red, yellow, or salmon blossom unlike anything you have seen. We are in the process of reforesting parts of Pu'u Menehune with native Koa trees (known for their fine hard wood) along with native sandalwood (Iliahi) and other rare native species.

Activities in Waimea include the Cherry Blossom Festival held in early February, rodeo held on July 4 th , an old fashioned Christmas Parade in December with horse drawn carriages, horseback riders, and trucks dressed in lights and tinsel.

Hiking on the property

Waimea's Farmer's Market held every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to
noon located below our property.

Pu`u Menehune is just 20 minutes away from some of the most beautiful
beaches in the world located on the Kohala coast including Hapuna Beach
State Park and Kauna'oa located at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. Hapuna's
beach measures almost half a mile and is the largest on the Big Island. In
one ranking, Hapuna was rated by Dr. Beach as the number-one beach
in America.

The nearby town of Hawi offers a flume ride where you can float in a kayak
down a irrigation canal carved into the mountain. If after hiking our property you
want more, experience the fabulous White Road hike just down the road which
takes you along the upper rim (cliffs) of Waipio Valley where the views are breathtaking and you may be lucky to see an upside down waterfall. That's right, waterfalls that flow up due to the winds in the valley.

If you are up for a day trip, visit Volcano National Park and you may be lucky
enough to see flowing lava courtesy of Madam Pele. The present flow began
more than 10years ago and has been one of our longest.
